What do we mean with the words, “new economy?”

A new economy or an old one? A new way of thinking or an old conflict between work and capital? It is open to debate. But for us, it is all pretty clear. The new economic situation is impossible to avoid. “New economy” = “old economy” + IT and a deregulated Soviet state. Globalisation is a fact of life, and money is the information that everyone want to freely access.

Why “Money,” exactly?

In “Money-a Commentary on the New Economy” we want to study our times by starting from the smallest common denominator in the web of rules we call society: money.
Money is also something to which we believe everyone has a relationship. Something that everyone knows about. Not like art. That is why this is not an art exhibition, but an exhibition on money, with the help of art.

Why have we chosen these artists?

Money is something artists are very interested in. Many artists have made artworks with money as the theme. So it was not too difficult to find interesting artists who had done something that could be included. In this exhibition, we have tried to collect as disparate expressions as possible.
