Three years ago, the Moscow artist Alexander Brener went into the Stedelijk
Museum in Amsterdam and sprayed a dollar sign onto Kasimir Malevitj’s
famous painting White Cross with Gray Background from 1920-27. He was
sentenced to a Dutch prison term for this. This video film Dimitry Troitsky
and Olga Stolpovskaya is a free fantasy over Brener’s act. In the
video, quotes are taken from the actual trial. The rest of the film is
a sort of utopia, where Brener’s act saves both art and humanity.
