about THE TEMPORARY ART SCHOOL The primary point of the Temporary Art School is simple. A Temporary Art School practices the idea of lifelong learning by creating a simple form for its existence. Any one can start a Temporary Art School. One simply collects a group of people around a chosen object of study, studying the object through an artistic perspective. A Temporary Art School consists of four parts: One or two teachers, students, an object of study, and an artistic perspective. (i) The artistic perspective needs no expert in art history or perspective theory. On the contrary, it demands a state of naivete, where one looks at the chosen object from underneath, beyond the routine ideas about its pragmatic functions. (ii) The teacher moderates the discussions and coordinates the movements of the students. The identity of the teacher can shift during the course of study; anyone can take the role according to the situation. The most suitable is having one to two teachers, with the other participants either being students or objects of study. (iii) The students have an active role in that they create the artistic perspective critically. (iv) The object of study can be anything the teacher chooses to study.
