Rockefeller Institute Program Explores State Policy

The Nelson A. Rockefeller Institute of Government presented a New York State Policy Day," featuring leaders from state government, business and academia, on May 10 at the The Chase Manhattan Corporation in New York City.

The plenary session focused on The Changing Environment for Business and include apanel of State Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno, Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver and Robert King, the governor´s director of regulatory reform.

New York and International Banking, a panel by Jill Considine, former state superintendent of banks, included the current superintendent, Neil Levin, State Sen. Hugh Farley and Derrick Cephas, another former superintendent of banks and now a partner with Cadwalder, Wickersham and Taff.

Another panel, headed by John Dunne of Whiteman Osterman & Hanna and former state senator and aide to Presdint Bush, looked at Preparing for Changes in New York´s Insurance Industry. It included Frank Rasco, chairman of the executive committee, Marsh McLennan and Harry Hohn, chairman and CEO of New York Life Insurance Co., as well as state officials.

The program also featured A Conversation about the 1996 Elections will Joe Klein, senior editor of Newsweek magazine, and James Fallows, Washington editor of the Atlantic Monthly.
